Another Metal-Like Text Effect!
Learned another more effective metal tutorial today and decided to make it into a tutorial. It’s so easy, and really quick!
Credits:
I can’t really claim this at my own tutorial. I got it from Empire Dezign, and am converting it from Photoshop to Paint Shop Pro. All credits to go Empire Dezign!
Required Files:
.1 Wood Texture
.2 Custom Gradient
Step 1
Make a 500×300 document and insert your wood texture. Resize it to your liking.
Step 2
Add some text with the font “Times New Romans”. For the color, us the metal gradient (you can download it above). Save the selection to the alpha channel!
Step 3
Add a drop shadow (Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow) and use these settings:
Click OK. Deselect and make two new raster layers. You can name them if you want, InnerGlow 1 and InnerGlow 2.
Step 4
On InnerGlow 1, load the selection from the alpha channel and invert the selection (CTRL+SHIFT + I). Add another drop shadow and use these settings:
Put the blending mode on Overlay and the Opacity to 80% (or around that number).
Step 5
Now go to InnerGlow 2 layer and load up your selection from the alpha channel. Invert the selection and add another drop shadow and use the following settings:
You should have this now:
Step 6
Now let’s fix that background. Make a new layer and move it right above the wood texture layer. Fill it in with the black-white gradient and the following settings:
Set the blending mode to Multiply and lower the Opacity to 80%. This should make a nice background for the text.
Step 7
Make another new layer above the black-white and make a selection like the following and fill it in with black:
Blur it by 4 pixels (Gaussian blur) and then copy it under all the letters to make nice shadows.
Conclusion
That rounds up this tutorial! I hope you liked it. Here I add a slogan in much smaller text, and it still looks good!
