How to make a cool brushed metal logo
This tutorial will show you how to make a great brushed metal logo just like the one we are using CORELTUTS. It’s really easy and a great effect to try, and you can get all sorts of results using it by changing the color of the text.
Step 1
Make a 500×200 document and fill it in with a dark/gray blueish color. I am using #63818d. Next, make a new raster layer and fill it in with black. Then add some noise with the following settings:
And you should have:
Step 2
Add some motion blur with these settings, and after your done, make the blending style of the layer Luminance (L).
Step 3
Awesome. Now let’s make the text! Use these settings:
- Font: Arial
- Size: 120px
- Style: Bold
- Tracking: -0.100
- Create as: Floating
And use this gradient to color the text:
Center the text, and before de-selecting save the selection to the alpha channel. De-select and create a new layer. As you figured I’m not bothering to name my layers since this is a small project, but you can if you want to.
Load your selection from the alpha channel and fill it in with black. Add some noise also, same settings as last time. Then set the Blending style to Soft Light. Before de-selecting do a Blur>Motion Blue and set the Strength to 15. And now we have our final creation:
I hope you liked this tutorial! This is a great effect to try, and you can use all different colors/gradients to get different results. Enjoy.
