Learn How to Make A Grungy Metal Bar!
This is an awesome effect I’ve used for some gaming websites. It really looks good, and is really easy to do! This is a must for gaming sites, clan sites, or any other site that needs that extra dark grungy effect.
Things you’ll need
Download this brush:

Step 1
Make a new document. I am going with 800×200. Fill it in with the pattern you downloaded.
Make a new layer and fill it in with the following gradient (it should be a default gradient, if not, download it here.
Set the blending mode to Multiply and knock down the opacity down to 80-90.
Step 2
What I’m going to do now is make the image full screen so we have more room for painting with our splatter brush. Use the edges of the brush and add some splatters.
Step 3
Add any metal or grungy texture unto a new layer (and if you have to, stretch it to make it fill the document) and set the blending mode to Overlay or Soft Light. Some textures only look good on one or the other. Who knows, maybe either of those blending modes won’t work. Experiment.
And that’s it! Throw on some text, images, or what ever. This is really an awesome effect. Easy too! I made it three times- no! Four times today!
