Simulate HDR in Paint Shop Pro 11
This is a really easy tutorial what can give you a powerful HDR effect in no time at all. Of course, it’s not exactly like HDR, but it can be convincing.
Step 1
Open your image in Paint Shop Pro. I’m using a image of a Ford Focus I took a while ago. .
Step 2
Go to Enhance Photo > High Pass Sharpen…
… and use these settings:
Step 3
Go back to Enhance Photo and click Clarify and use these settings:
Click OK. Makes a big difference huh?
Step 4
No, we’re not done yet. You can see the image now has a lot of distortion. This could be because the image was a lower-quality .jpg, or the filters just add a lot of distortion to the image, but to fix this we’ll go back to Enhance Photo and click One Step Noise Removal.
Nice difference, so much cleaner. On some images you might have to go to Adjust > Sharpen > Sharpen, others you shouldn’t. Try and it and see how it looks.
Step 5
Add a Saturtation layer…
… and use the following settings:
Conclusion
Well now, that wasn’t to bad was it? And you got a nice HDR effect. Some pictures will look incredible with these effects, others not as much. Play with the settings, change things, experiment.
